I am a former psychology professor with a background in research, teaching, and therapy. Despite my academic background, I enjoy writing about topics with broad appeal, using words most people know. My writing has been published in Odyssey, Muse, and Spigot Science and I’ve created instructional resources for college texts.
My areas of expertise include mental health topics, such as clinical disorders, bullying, and stress management, and social issues, such as violence, criminal justice, poverty, and discrimination. I have a strong grounding in human biology, including brain structure and function, memory, sensation, perception, consciousness, and learning. Finally, because I worked in protein chemistry and molecular biology labs before becoming a psychologist, I can cover core life science topics such as genetics, natural selection, and cell structure.
