Cecilia Pinto McCarthy writes about science and nature. Her articles have been published in The Boston Globe and Odyssey Magazine. Her newest books are Hawks and Vultures for Capstone Press’s First Facts series. She has also written five titles for Capstone’s Pebble Plus Colorful World of Animals series: Bettas, Poison Dart Frogs, Macaws, Flamingos, and Green Tree Pythons as well as three books for the Pebble Plus Monkey series.

In addition to writing, Cecilia works as a field teacher/naturalist for Massachusetts Audubon at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary and is a violinist in a local community orchestra. She lives north of Boston with her husband, two children, and several animals.
