    Virtual Math Curriculum Writer and Designer Specialist

    Working as an independent contractor from home, the Math Curriculum Designer/Writer is responsible for developing curriculum for math at the elementary and/or middle school level based on the Common Core. Responsibilities include:

    Creating new curriculum
    Developing summative assessments
    Designing fun and engaging math worksheets
    Writing clear solutions to the math problems
    Creating math practice exercises to help students understand key Common Core math concepts

    Bachelor’s in mathematics
    At least five years of experience in mathematics education
    Experience in a math tutoring center a plus
    At least two years of curriculum development experience
    Expertise in the Common Core and teaching methods
    Excellent attention to detail and time management and organizational skills
    Strong written communication skills
    Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office programs and the Google online tools)
    Self motivated with the ability to effectively meet deadlines

    These independent contractor positions are temporary and are usually paid per project. These positions are home-based, and contractors set their own hours. Pay is based on experience.

    Training Designer (Just some editorializing here on my part: Upwork is the company…not the greatest for freelancers, though it says it is…just an fyi)

    The training Instructional Designer will be responsible for developing and creating training modules and programs for Upwork. Programs materials may include full program curriculum, courses/lessons, modules, workbooks, trainer notes, exercises, assessments, and evaluations.

    You will:
    – Analyze and identify learning objectives, materials and assessment criteria that will meet the training needs of the various teams to develop agent knowledge and skills
    – Develop Upwork Core and Product training program
    – Formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods
    – Select and develop teaching aids
    – Confer with management, supervisors and reps to gain knowledge of issues and processes requiring training
    – Support revisions/updates/reformatting of the training curricula, ensuring that all training materials are accurate, instructional sound and up-to-date
    – Develop a testing process and test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training


    – B.S. or B.A or equivalent experience required
    – 4-6 years of experience in instructional design and development
    – Experienced in producing for a fully virtual audience
    – Experience in Adult Learning Theory, Microlearning, and Experiential Learning a plus
    – Excellent open and proactive written and oral communication skills
    – Ability to work in team-oriented environment
